The word chorus line basically means a group of dancers or singers who are performing together. The Chorus line is basically a story about a group of performers auditioning for the chorus of the Broadway show. The movie, which is based on the book by Nicholas Dante, shows the mutual understanding developed by the performance as they go through interviews with the director. The cast tell of their hates, loves, childhoods, ambitions, families as well as carriers. At the end of this audition, a total of 8 performers are picked for the final glitzy song as well as a dance which is done by the entire cast.

The successes were celebrated by a small army of 483 replacements who followed them. The success of the total shows performed was worth about $149 million. The group suppressed renowned groups such as Hello Dolly and the Fiddler on the Roof. The group further celebrated another milestone in the September of 1983 where it got breaking record of 3,389 performances. This enabled the chorus line to suppress the mighty Grease. The success still remains unbeaten to this day.
